So I ended up disconnecting the Temp sender this morning as i did the unit clip snapped so the part is a bit oxidized and started the car. It was sluggish to start (cold morning) but it fired up and didn't skip a beat after that. Going to order the sensor from FCP and replace it soon. I will update when done!

Solved! It was coil pack 4! I forgot about it after testing all other cylinders and get distracted by the purge valve and temp sender. But along the way I found that the temp sender was failing too! Misfire be gone though. Attached is a dirty but happy Bette!

My 05 VW Jetta GLi (actually many of the Mk4, but mines champ) will eat COPs.... Giving the same modes of failure.

It's actually so regular a failure that I have a spare in the trunk. It'll die going down the road, coughing and sputtering I pull over, remove COP plugs until I find the one that doesn't make the car run worse (fyi, modern I4s can run on 3 and idle on 2 Cylinders!!).

Once found, swap it out and then head to Orileys that has a lifetime warranty on COPs!!! I've done this about 10x now. It's comical! But hey... It's their rules!!

Hopefully you never get to know the problem that well, but buying from the right source isn't a bad idea!! Just saying!!

I think the Evap error has to do with the misfires as the VW will often throw those codes when the COP fails. Maybe incorrect pressures in the lines?? Don't know but I got them regularly when it happened!

I got a year warranty on the coil I bought for the moment, but O'Rileys is opening up in my town soon so that will be great to know! Thank you to everyone for the guidance on helping me solve the issue!

Exactly!!! I have 11 warranty returns, 4 new COPs and only ever bought one coil!

Pretty sweet deal!! If the Volvo ever starts eating them, I know FCP has the same deal, but there's an Orileys on the corner... No shipping and same day service!!
