Keep a eye on the color until you are sure the transmission is not slipping. If it is slipping the fluid will turn dark than black with clutch material quickly and/or have particles appearing in the fluid. I would check the color daily for a couple of days and if it starts to darken noticeably than get a transmission mechanic to diagnose and give a repair estimate immediately. I would say getting to the bottom of the power loss is paramount. Because if it is the transmission or something as expensive to fix, then tires and oil leaks will be waiting money as you might not want to spend that much. June

It's really hard understanding mechanical problems when your jumping in feet first. I had terrible luck with my first car as I understood nothing about it beyond putting gasoline in it. Back in the mid 80s guys or manuals at the library was my alternative to mechanics trying to sell me a new ramen noodles change...
I decided; I wanted to understand what makes these machines work and how to properly care for them. You are lucky you have us here and YouTube. Definitely check YouTube. We have the great guy here on MVS who has a YouTube channel "Robert do it yourself". I forget his name on here. Even after driving for over 30 years I am learning more all the time about cars. Search YouTube for a video of a slipping transmission in a Volvo. I know there is a good video of a 4T65 transmission in a S80. He shows the tachometer on the dash as the transmission slipps.ill see if I can find it and link it. June

Abscate can you link "Volvo S80 Transmission Failure" from YouTube? Its 1.29 minutes long and I cant get it to link. I think this will help Michelle determine if she has a slipping transmission. Thanks for pointing RSPI out. I like his videos as he talks normally to his audience and is easy to understand. June

Yes thank you. Michelle notice the tachometer needle jumping up and the sound of the engine revs while the speed is not increasing properly. Look for this symptom when you are not getting acceleration. Hopefully your car is not doing this. If the tachometer (big needle on the right side) is not going up fast when your car is not accelerating properly then a engine problem is likely.
After seeing this video, and then driving your car, report back please. June
