2004 XC90 Major Issues - Keep it or sell

Post by roberius »

I took my 2004 XC90 T6 into the shop to get the timing belt and water pump replaced. Price - $700. Then the shop called and said that a oil seal needs to be replaced and a tensioner. Add another $600 ($1300 total)
I went to pick up the car and about an hour later, the car started smoking.
Took it back to the shop and they said that the turbo was bad (1,2,3). That would be $2600 dollars.
So, I took it to another shop and they told me that the PCV system was majorly clogged and needed to be replaced and cleaned out.($600). After they did this, it didn't smoke for 2 minutes than started smoking. They determined that Turbo 1,2,3 was bad and 4,5,6 had a loose shaft so both needed to be replaced ($3400). It has been in the shop for the last four weeks (I think they are dragging their feet getting it fixed).
My question here is this - I have spent $6500 to get my XC90 roadworthy again. I took in a good working car and have waited 4 weeks to get it back. Should I keep it or sell it for the price of repairs.
it has 123,000 and I want to be sure it will be dependable when I get it back.
Thanks for your input.
