Precopster, what makes it a nice block? What's different about it? And as far as the VINS go I appreciate the help

It's a nice one because it's a T5 2.3 block that handle higher boost pressures due to the slightly smaller bore and thicker cylinder walls.
If it were a 2.4 litre (2435cc) of the same era it would have thinner cylinder walls and not be as well suited to a custom tune where higher boost pressures are employed.
As already mentioned on this thread the engine of choice is the 2.5 litre with longer stroke but this would have to be modified to suit your car due to using two CVVTs instead of one.

So boost-wise what am I getting stock? And what can I safely push it to without fear of blowing heads and other important stuff

That depends on.a lot of things..
1) Whether the wastegate is correctly adjusted (look on IPDs site in their tech tips for the correct procedure and specs for your engine
2) Condition and age of your head gasket
3) Condition/wear level of your piston rings
4) Condition of the valve seats on the head
5) Condition of your intercooler
6) Condition of the intercooler hoses (this is where silicon can be advantageous as it is generally stiffer under high boost than rubber)
7) Condition of the turbo
Current metal fatigue in the conrods (a weak point for these motors)
9) Condition of the main.and conrod bearings
10) Condition of cooling system
11) Condition of the lubrication system such as sump O rings, PCV system and oil pump
When new these motors had around 8-10psi

You’ve got some internet TCIP stuck on your 8 )7) Condition of the turbo
