How do you get in there? I don't have time to look it up right now, but I posted another one featuring 2 stiff wires (like coat hanger wire) about 10 inches long with a hook at the end. You do need to sacrifice the marker light retention spring to go in through the cable hole, but those springs are cheap online (a couple years ago). You need to cut the spring. If you try to pull it too hard the plastic lug the spring connects to will break—then you need a new light housing (they're still available, I think Rock Auto had them a couple of years ago; might still have).
The right (US passenger) side is easiest, b/c the trip lever is on the outboard side of the latch. If I recall correctly, you can almost see it with a flashlight. The left (US drivers side) is harder to see. You kind of have to have a sense of where you're fishing. I couldn't get to it from the underside (not that I needed to, thankfully), so again you go in through the cable hole behind the marker light. I posted photos of the fish wire I made up and instructions about how to orient it as you poke around in there trying to get a hold of the lever. It's doable.
