New cat arrived yesterday and it's about 2-3" shorter in length than the old stock cat. You guys think that's going to be a problem when I go install, or will the flex pipe extend when I attach it to the manifold?

The OEM cat is huge (and heavy). What matters is the overall length of the whole section, from flange to flange and also the flange angle at the manifold. If the flanges don't fit parallel without forcing, I would return it because the flex pipe will be under stress and start leaking after a while. Same for the bracket, has to fit correctly without putting stress on the unit. The flex pipe does not extend, but does 'bent'. Also when installing, you can push-pull the rest of the exhaust for about 1-2inches to better align, but again don't force. I would also recommend to use specific exhaust black bolts and nuts, regular silver hardware seizes quickly and it's impossible to remove months later if needed (or use antiseize) Here's a test I did on flex pipes, gives an idea about the quality

Great vid and thanks for the advice. I must have placed them side by side incorrectly on primary inspection; looks like it'll be a fit with minimal force and stress.

Can you take a picture deep inside the Magnaflow flexible ? I'm curious if it has interlock liner. Its flange looks having a little different angle in the horizontal plane, hopefully it will fit properly without having to force

This is how the inner interlock looks like, from left to right goes from the best to the least solid https://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/ ... d7d60674ac

Let me know if these work, or if I need to zoom in more to get what you need.

As part of the cat replacement, I am going to change the downstream O2 sensor. I received it today and see there's a small tube of metallic copper colored grease. I assume this is anti seize compound to place on the O2 threads? Bosch (13767) website says it comes precoated but I shows no signs of having anything on it.

It's standard braid liner inside, that's a bit disappointing. Hopefully it will last a while but if the fitting is not perfect, these start leaking anywhere from a few months to 1-2 years. Not leaking like in making noise, but more like in leaking gases and smelling sometimes inside the car.
Yes, that's a bit of antiseize and I'd recommend using a bit on the hardware bolts as well
