Perfos are like Columbas for classy people, plus we don’t get our left and right mixed up, nor our front / back

fortunately the bumper of the vehicle I smacked into was way high above mine, buckeled hood, pushed radiator packet back, no coolant loss, good idea on checking for pressure in refrigerant department. I have a collant replentish hose and gauge maybe I can use it to vent pressure

Took 3 hr to remove rad support fragments, and shattered headlights

ordered a ratcheting box, 10mm, flat low profile to put those difficult to access rad support bolts along the bottom Neil noted those are difficult

will the A/C condenser, intercooler, radiator and fan come out go in as one unit?

and would that be from below? and back in from below after replacement radiator support is in.?

my garage work area has a creek runnin across it, Its a 90 year old cottage (around here that is as old as they get) built for the then CA governers mistress in hills of palo alto. He was my kinda rascal. Rear concrete wall cracked by 90 foot redwood tree about 10 ft away from it the roots pushing it over, when rain is real intense it has a horizontal stream of water shooing out.

Fan and shroud are easier from the top, in my opinion ( not when bent, though ), and the radiator bottom mounts, so up from under. If you can just finish destroying the bent stuff, it may come out as one, but might be easier to handle in smaller chunks.
Since the old pieces are headed for the recycle bin, a sawzall isn't sinful. Pro body shop guys get paid piece-work, brute force and cutting tools clear the debris in mere tenths of an hour.

And they seemed to like the fact we were not students.
And had real money.
And knew how to tip.
A real "R" will be AWD and a high-pressure turbo, along with some trim and interior details. All the tin and plastic stuff you're after will transfer. The "R" would have a distinctly different front bumper cover as well.
Very odd that the condenser took such a big hit and still has gas integrity; if a careful poke at the Schrader valve shows pressure, you're in a large urban area, there might be some folks offering mobile recovery service, maybe bundled with vacuum draw-down and recharge.
Foggy
Its 5:35 AM, we had a rare frost overnight, I need a drink
The bumper: V dealer shows same bumper illustrations for these : V70 XC and V70 R, wildly different price tags for unpainted vs pained, , I'll need to study carefully the two to find differences. I'm a little foggy on how to get them off cannot find an explanation.

You were right, condenser was empty

I'm ready to start harvesting parts, my bumper looks like shit white splotchy bleached out by sun I guess. Ill see

On my '98R, the front bumper cover is distinctly different from the other 70 series, I am unsure of the XC - and the '00 may be another beast entirely. The R cover has been NLA from Volvo for some time now.
Robert Spinner has been after his pals at Swedish Parts to have some made; since you're just trying to get your ride back on the road, the R bumper cover may be a moot point.
55 this morning at 6 here in southern DE, but the high forecast for Monday is 40.

Looking back, the only reason "R" showed up here was your mention of the donor car, and saying it was a 56 code; my '98 R is 52 code. Since your bumper, spoiler and air guide stuff is intact, it looks like the only things you need from the donor - aside from the tin and plastic stuff already mentioned - would be the headlight wiper bits, and to replace them, it would be easier to pull the bumper cover.
With the front of the car naked, this would be a dandy time to service the crankcase breather/oil trap.

so true crankcase breather. I did it already just prior to installing the engine by someone else.
part harvesting began today, the two bumpers are the same,

final step in bumper cover uninstall: lift / pull the bottom and rip it off
never did find a explanation , procedure for that in print or you tube

Good point firefox..... got the radiator pack back in and obviously the top of the radiator was tipped rearward closer to the engine at top where it took the hit ..... the cooling fan would never go back into the small space.

So the radiator pack came back out, the flanges that the radiator bolt up to on each side were deformed by the impact so I "adjusted" them. Could not find a reliable reference point to gauge how much to bend them so just winged it. Top of the radiator then allowed much more space to install fan shroud and motor.

Radiator fan shroud then went in just barely .... that would be normal, right??, just barely?

Considering torquing Rad. support bolts back in after adding a stack of washers to it sits 3/8 in. more or less forward of its normal position.

At some point you will have to have a hard look at the hood/fender fitment. That may give you an idea if more adjustments are needed.
In normal times, there isn't a lot of room to spare between the front of the motor and the fan stuff.
