I went in to finally check the cam & crank sensor & the connectors were filled with green, fluffy corrosion. I cleaned it out & tested the sensor (they were fine) & it started. I have a new vacuum tree & several feet of hose to replace any that need it.
That's a great conclusion to this post!
Happy it worked out for you and was just some corrosion.

I'm about to dive back into my S70 and clean up the engine bay quite a bit since its now the "fun weekend car", so thats something I will have to look out for that I had forgotten can happen.

I have worked on a lot of cars over the years. Never rule out the simple. I did not think the sensors would be bad if I had spark. Have fun with you S70. Mine is happy to be back in her parking spot safe.

Well done Pat! Always like to get the finale and that it turned out to be something cheap to sort!

Update: After I got the car running it ran ok for a day or 2 then did the same thing. Crank, no start. I replaced the cam sensor today & the problem is hopefully fixed this time. I don't usually throw parts at a problem but since cleaning the connectors got it started for a bit I tried. Just thought I would update if maybe it helps someone in the future.

I had a cam sensor issue with an 850. Car would run but randomly cut out. It turned out a mechanic had moved the cam sensor cable when checking on something (can't recall now) and it was too close to the distributor and the distributor signal would block the cam position signal.

I bought a new sensor as the dealer said it was faulty, but after re-positioning the wire the original it ran fine afterwards.

That is a thought. The sensor wire connector is mounted to a little clip. I installed it back in it's original mounting location. Thanks.
