Need to replace the wiring to the front right ABS sensor on a 96 850.

So I'm looking for P80 (up to 98) front ABS connector with as much factory wire length as possible, hopefully enough wiring to get back up to the firewall and do a splice up there.

Sorry if you don't have Facebook, but this car is a beauty. I love PV's and this is an early one. Not sure if the engine is original as I though the early PV444's came with a 1400cc engine and not the B16 (1600cc) engine.

i'm going to the junkyard friday, do you know of any interchange for this year and model?

I don’t, the rundown ins and out of vehicles used to be easier to find on the net, signal-to-noise ratio is way off now.

however, I did just check the price of replacements and it’s likely not worth the hassle. I was thinking more of someone who has recycled a Volvo or two might have a pair.

I recently did this job on my 98 V70. These year and model all use the same cables:

93-97 850, sedan or wagon
98-00 S70 (sedan)
98-00 V70 (wagon)

The aftermarket cables can be troublesome. Some fit well, some do not. You can get genuine Volvo cables for $74 per side right now, that's about a 40% discount. May be worth looking for room in your budget, they will fit and function perfectly:

They're $11 on the yard and i'm puling at least one ebrake assembly already, all good tho

The '97 850 is perfect. '95 may be different than my '96, not sure. If only the 95 is there, please get the wiring and I'll check if it works. But the '97 will work for sure.

Your pics from RockAuto are of rear ABS sensors, not what I'm looking for. I need the wiring and connector for the front ABS sensor, passenger side. Unfortunately you can't buy front ABS wiring, you have to cut it out of a donor car.

The wiring I need is rare to be plucked, it is almost certainly there if the car is!

This shows the wiring in the passenger wheel well, you can see the red connector on the end, lower left corner near the jack stand:

Here the guy has separated the connector, don't do that! But just to show you it again:

And here you can see where the connector plugs into the ABS sensor in the steering knuckle:

So
1) unplug the red connector from the ABS sensor. basically squeeze the clip and pull straight up. right-angle needle nose may help but also be careful the plastic connector is old and could be brittle.
2) unhook the ABS wiring from the strut. Be careful, this wiring is fragile inside.
3) follow the wiring back to the firewall (or to the ABS unit) as far as you can
4) cut the wiring back there, inside the engine bay
5) gently pull the cut wiring through the bracket on the hard brake line. You can see this bracket in the top pic up there. Or maybe it can be removed, I'm not sure.

If all goes well you'll end up with an intact red connector (or whatever color the connector is on the 97) and a few feet of wiring behind it. Thats what I need!
