What was suggested for testing the MAF is to unplug the wiring connector to the MAF and then see if the engine runs better after with it disconnected. It is only a test, not recommended for running the car on the road. The ECU reads the information from the MAF to make adjustments to the engine. When you disconnect it it goes to data programmed into the ECU. If the car runs the same with the MAF connected or disconnected it is not the MAF. It is worth cleaning the MAF with specific MAF cleaner and see if that helps before buying a new or used replacement. Bosch used to be the go to for this but I believe they are no longer made. Volvo still had a stock but at a stupid price.

I discovered that the hoses and parts I purchased are not compatible with my vehicle. It appears that most retailers are only selling the hidden Turbo PCV model, whereas I own a non-turbocharged and automatic Volvo 850.

Additionally, I am unsure whether my car is equipped with an EGR system, as its presence seems to be dependent on which PCV system to order. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in finding the right PCV for my Volvo 850 🙁

SAS is an air pump and some hoses, mounted towards the firewall, if I remember correctly. Ask Google, there should be photos out there.

I'm pretty sure that the '94 I was pulling parts from in the junkyard had an EGR.

You don't have EGR, but you very likely have an SAS, the air pump is somewhere below the battery. There should be a hose from the air intake that connects to the air pump.

I encountered another issue today. When I started the car, it was difficult to start. The cause could be the PCV valve, the relay pump, or any other potential issue. I proceeded to drive the car. When I put the car in reverse, it worked fine. However, when I shifted into drive (D), the car stalled. I tried shifting back into reverse, and it worked again. When I shifted into drive (D) once more, the car stalled again. Interestingly, when I used the winter mode, the car was able to drive without any issues. I am wondering if there is a problem with the transmission. I will try flushing the transmission fluid to see if that resolves the issue.
