Thanks I hadn't even thought of calling the insurance company. Great point.

I haven't looked just yet. I have a few months to go on my current policy.

It seems that perhaps it's the washer sensor. After an impact, things get shaken up, sometimes working parts get too shook up. They should be replacing it tomorrow.

They really did a very good job on the work though. I looked at the paint in bright sunlight, I couldn't tell the difference.

Now my next part quest..unrelated to accident..is getting the leather on the driver's seat replaced. It sounds like people don't actually dye the leather anymore like in a tannery. They use some sort of special spray coating when attempting to match colors if an exact match can't be found. A local guy said the spray coats eventually wear off. His opinion was to just get leather that matches it as close as possible, rather than get a close match and then spray it.

Any ideas people?

Thanks all of you guys have been super helpful!

How about a side-by-side before and after photo?

I am very nervous about this situation arising in the future.

Not needed. It looks brand new, cannot tell the difference.

My dad got his S80 hit near the front wheel about 4 months ago. No structural damage, just $1200+/- of bodywork.

The insurance company totaled it out, gave him a few grand to get something else. He bought it back from them for peanuts, and now has a salvage title S80. He cannot get anything but basic insurance, so he's buying AAA coverage to supplement his regular insurance.

I told him he's treading on thin ice with that car because when the transmission goes, it'll be essentially worthless, unless he wants to screw around selling parts off it which he will not do.

When you buy your own car back you should not get a salvage title.
So, you need to work that out with them.
KEEP the title until it's all worked out
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP
