Ultra 94 in our 2000 S70 SE. However lately, we've switched to regular. There's an impact in performance and fuel economy so we MIGHT switch back to Ultra 94.

You're going to burn your exhaust valves.

As per the pics in the previous page? How? I've known people that said they ran regular pretty much their car's entire life despite it recommending premium....

In the US, Regular is usually 87, Mid-grade 89, and Premium 91. Now, I don't know what regular and mid-grade is in a place that has "Ultra 94", but first off the octane is not AS important in a naturally aspirated engine. But here, people use 87 in these cars all the time, no issues. But to have the peace of mind, you can run 91. So I doubt anyone will run into burned exhaust valves in a place where premium is 94 and regular is what... 90?

What is the regular in Canada?

Ultra 94 is found at Sunoco and Petro Canada. I believe Texaco and has it too as I remember seeing it at one of their gas stations while in Florida.

USA octane rating and naming is the same as Canada.

Ah ok, wasn't sure on that one! Thanks.

I run Premium 91 in mine a. because it's a turbo b. it eliminates any doubt. But yeah, millions of people will go hundreds of thousands of miles with regular in a car spec'd for premium. I think it really depends on how you drive and the upkeep of general maintenance.

Go ahead and run regular. Report back to us on what happens.

You tell me to run regular here, then mid-grade or premium in the other. Make up your mind!!! lol

We've been running regular for the past month. Like I said, the fuel economy and the performance decreased.

So far, I am halfway through stage 0. New cap, rotor, wires. Plugs are going in today. I need to change the oil, but I doubt old oil will cause bad fuel economy, to an extent.
Not much AC use, mainly city driving. I don't think the brakes are dragging.

How about O2 sensors? When were they last replaced (if ever)? As they get older they don't always produce the right signals and can semi-fail without actually displaying the CEL. Might net a few more MPG with that.

I'm about to change out my original ones at 140K, wish I had done it sooner though.
