have you looked at or considered the posts here about deleting the whole SAS system. Don't know where you are located and smog check considerations but that is the route I'm going in Texas. Just search for SAS delete posts. I think there is an option for Motronic 4.3 and 4.4, not sure which you have. Something to consider.

I was myself, maybe just a coincidence but that's what happen. All I did the other day was change out the check valve and nothing else but I've been driving her around now, before I was just driving on my property cause she wasn't legally insured/registered. I'm still doing the PCV system as soon as I get a good day out her with all the snow in N.Y. this winter. I finally have everything I need, including money to do all the things I've been planning to do to this ride. Today I drained the coolant system and ran some nice clean warm water through the system till it looked clear. Then I put 50/50, 50% Volvo Coolant and 50% distilled water...I also replaced the coolant temperature sensor while I had her fluid empty. What a little pain in the arse that CTS is to get to, I got it though. Before anyone will ask, No I didn't do this with the SAS check valve. I did find it kinda weird that my radiator fan never kicked on at all though, the temp went a little above the middle of the dash gauge. I guess I'm going to have to investigate this now. Does anyone know any common places to look when the fan doesn't work, there seems to be quite a bit of things that go on all of these cars.
