From another post about NJ inspections: "For anyone who is reading this thread here is some updates and solid information.
NJ DMV Inspection center allow 1 not ready reading if your car is year model 2001&up. (Except the catalytic system).
If its older than 2001 then you can have 2 not ready reading. again except the catalytic system."
This is similar to the Maryland requirements where I live. Volvo cars are well known to have difficulties completing their drive cycles. I recently passed with one monitor in the not ready state. Good luck.
