XemodeX or BBa-Reman are the only two outfits that I know of that currently fix them.

Thanks Everybody.
I've followed the instruction to fix my speedometer, that was working 5% of the time.
I asked a mechanic to remove the ABS module, I got it fixed from a TV repair shop, and asked him to put it back... big surprise was not working.
Then I followed suggestions of some members to make sure the plug is well inserted. I pushed it with a a metal leverage (broking a bit the cap mechanism). And it worked!
Very happy... until after 4 days he stopped working again, in the motorway...
Now it works again, but that failure the other day made me very uncomfortable!!!!!
Any suggestion? Shall I expect more failures in the future?
Thanks
Bob

Hello all, Great write up and instructions on this topic. I did the repair on my unit but did not help (lights still came on intermittently and unit would kick on and off). So after I was about to pull it out for a second time I had found that the insulation on the wires on the separate two pin connector going to the abs pump were completely deteriorated with bare wire completely exposed. After re-taping these the best I could the problem was gone. So just an fyi before you assume the module is the problem make sure and check these two wires first. Good luck and thanks again for all who post here with problems and solutions. John

Fantastic repair, just completed. Took my 850 t5 GLT into local dealer who used the test equipment to test the ABS error codes which said the pump and control unit were u/s, and he insisted the tracs and ASB lights on problem meant that the car would automatically fail its annual UK MOT test and that it was not worth fitting a new/refurb unit so I should scrap the car when the test is due. The car has 194,000 miles on the clock and I drove them all!

Huh, did the soldering job (cost me £7 for the Torx socket, hate those screws) and the lights now go out just as forecast. Hurray!

I fixed my 99 V70 module as well. Thanks for the DIY. Its been two weeks and all the lights are off execpt check engine and service. The speed o works all the time as well. The only thing now is after turning the car off within a few mins the odometer and clock display go out. Any thoughts on why this is happening???

Thanks

Used this guide to repair my '99 S70 AWD turbo module this past weekend and so far so good. I removed the hold down little washers after removing the module and then screwed the module to a piece of plywood and clamped it to the work bench. I then took a very stiff and very sharp putty knife and gently hammered it thru the hard silicone seal. I used just the edge of the knife so I didnt poke too far in and damage the circuit board inside. This worked well at getting inside the case. As you can see by my photo my problems were pretty obvious. A little heat and some solder and I was back in business in no time. Thanks for the help with this repair!

I bought my first volvo a few weeks ago, a 2000 v70 xc/awd. I knew something was up because of the deal I got on the car. On my way back from NYC to Buffalo, NY, the abs, brake, and check engine light came on, my speedometer cut off, and the odometer showed the -----, as well as the blinking arrow. Thanks to this forum, more specifically Lee's post, I was able to sucessfully perform the repair. Needless to say, I'm a happy guy this morning, since I don't have to put out $350 for a module at the parts store, or send it out to be rebuilt. This is my first of what will be many posts on this forum. I just wanted to thank everyone for their input on this thread, it made this possible, great forum, great people, and now I'm glad to be a member of it - :D

It is under the ABS pump which is located below the Brake Fluid reservoir and Black Main Fuse Box.
