The dreary rainy weather has returned today unfortunately... I was just getting used to the sunny 80 degree weather we've had the past few days!
Time to get the X3 into the garage and figure out the idle issues...

Went to a pick n pull with a 98' and 00' s/v70 and pulled a passenger door lock and swapped it in, so after 7 months of ownership my car now has 4 working locks lol. Also pulled some front brake dust shields that were in surprisingly good shape and i might go back for the rear ones.

My wipers only work on speeds 2&3 so i tried swapping in a stalk, but it didn't change anything so I have to try something else.

Probably the relay for the intermittent wipers if that's what isn't working.

I tried swapping in one of the VW intermittent relays awhile ago and it didn't change anything. Just pulled the cowl and checked the wiring and also no clear issues there.

The wipers also aren't parking, and I've seen a note that that could indicate the wiper motor?

Ahh, yeah that's possible. I've never dealt with it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the motor is bad. Assuming the 850 motor is the same, let me know if you need one.

Some parts of the wiper transmission are plastic and can break. Grab a hold of the wiper arm and see if it is floating.

I installed a new shifter gate blind. The original one cracked into three pieces and I was worried that dust and stuff might fall inside the shifter. To replace it, you have to remove the center control panel which covers the shifter also. It was a breeze. There's 2 bolts on top and two just behind the cigarette lighter bezel. The radio display unit just popped right out. The shift knob came off easily; just push the ring on the bottom down and the knob pulls right off. The shifter cover was a little delicate and I was lucky none of the retaining clips broke. Once the shifter cover was off, the blind just lifted right off. It was an easy job: probably took me about 45 minutes.

not sure I full grasp what floating would mean, but i'll give it a closer inspection tomorrow! If little plastic bits are broken, it probably still has to be replaced, no?

I changed the brake master cylinder on my S70. I've had funky brakes on it for years now but always kept neglecting it. I haven't been able to test drive yet since the brake bleeder assistant went to bed.

Floating as in there's no resistance from the motor. If you grab onto the wiper and you're able to move it freely, it could be those broken plastic pieces.
