I replaced my Canister Purge Valve and Evap Shut Off Valve finally, after replacing all of my evap lines over the last few months but still having a constant p0452. Which were the final pieces of completely refreshing the evap system short of doing the carbon canister.
I originally had codes p0455 and p1081 but swapped out old hoses in my engine bay while doing my head gasket. After the headgasket and engine bay evap line refresh a new problem arose - my ETS light started coming on intermittently with the code p1041 and i was still getting p0455, p1081. A few weeks later I found two cracked hoses coming off the carbon canister and swapped those out, after which my gas tank started shutting off the pump several times during gas station fill up. A couple months later- I'm worried about the ETS light and my throttle body more than anything, so I swapped my Throttle Body with a junk yard unit from a 99 NA (which ran perfectly as a direct swap). At this point p0455 was gone but I was now getting p0452 instead, plus still p1081 and occasionally p1041 + intermittent ETS light. Last couple weeks I noticed that my car was having a hard start after a full tank of gas so I figured it was time to bite the bullet and swap both the shut off valve as well as the canister purge valve. I've only driven it 20 miles since, so i need to run it for more miles and fill the gas tank up to see if my issues are solved, but a good lesson for me on Stage Zero.. if i had checked allll evap lines early on i might have gotten to this place quicker.
It remains to be seen if my ETS light comes back on, but could the evap system trigger issues with the throttle body?

I've never had to flush a system, probably not necessary unless it was really clogged up or the AC compressor disintegrated into the lines.ZionXIX wrote: ↑07 Aug 2020, 05:45
While that is true, there is no quick connect fitting for the hose connection. And of course now he's telling me I should have flushed everything out with an AC solvent while it was apart. I wonder if there is a blockage of gunk somewhere preventing charge from accepting.
They can be. I was using one of those blue adapters before, they suck. Gotta have it slightly loose for it to depress the valve, and even so it was really hard to get anything out of the cans. I went to Autozone and grabbed a new brass tap that was designed for the self-sealing cans, and that worked great with my manifold gauges.

Evap issues won't affect the throttle body, but a MAF problem will. Every time my MAF has gone out (which has happened more than I'd like) it throws an ETS light. Your MAF sensor may be on its way out.smacknab wrote: ↑07 Aug 2020, 07:47 I replaced my Canister Purge Valve and Evap Shut Off Valve finally, after replacing all of my evap lines over the last few months but still having a constant p0452. Ah good note. During the head gasket i did spray it with MAF cleaner, and the problems started after i put it all back together. Interestingly the ETS light hasn't come back on in the last 700 miles since I pulled the engine. Maybe it was a connection issue, but too soon to tell i guess. Thanks for the tip i'll keep monitoring it!bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑07 Aug 2020, 09:30 Evap issues won't affect the throttle body, but a MAF problem will. The crimp clamps on my auto trans cooler lines have been leaking for some time. Checked online how much new ones where. North of $400!!! So I repaired the ones I had instead using pieces of a new gates hose and an assortment of oetiker and worm gear clamps. Not the most fun job but I managed to save some hard earned dineros
Dang it's expensive to own a bimmer here...

That was a little broken!
So fuel, spark, and it still won't start?

So, you have fuel, spark, and compression (assumed on all cylinders), but do they occur at the proper time in the crank cycle? Has this car ever ran for you?
