Started prepping the trusty s60 for sale. Need to do an oil change, rear rotors and pads, and detail it. Put a fair amount of money into the car but it has been good to me for the past two years of ownership.
Car has been great to me, but i've inherited a 12' pilot fully loaded. That needs a bit of work, but the size, fuel economy (9L/100km premium normally vs 9.8-11), and towing capacity has me set. It too will need a timing belt and water pump soon, cant escape that.
The older volvos in the fleet will see a lot more love coming up.
What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Where are you located? You can message me if you feel more comfortable doing that. I may be interested in your car as is.yanga001 wrote: ↑20 May 2025, 12:41 Started prepping the trusty s60 for sale. Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

i am almost finished a front (cat cam) camera installation, activated by a contactless proximity sensor mounted on the gear stick (manual)
the sensor activates when a metal object (gear selector arm) swings into range

I just sent an order in to FCP including a RF axle seal, Corteco 9143885. Is that the correct one? (2004 XC70). They have two versions, but this appears to be my application. I wrote them to verify. Not sure I need it, but if the axle is coming out, I felt I should have it on hand.

FCP wrote right back - very nice - to say yes, that’s the correct axle seal. I had them add the updated intake banjo bolt while I had them on the line.

Started tear down of the front suspension on the 05 XC90. LCAs, sway links, in/out tie rods, ball joints, CV shafts too while I’m there (208k miles). Did loaded struts 7k miles ago and was clear rest of suspension needed done.
Driving in ball joints gets me every time. May take the steering knuckles to a local shop in morning to have them install them. I recall on here someone used a short piece of 1.5” capped steel pipe. Home Depot only had PVC in that size lol. May try Menards, local O’Reilly may have a tool too.

I surrendered and paid the local shop $90 to install the ball joints. XC90 drives much better, the steering wheel is now straight vs slight cant to it.Krons wrote: ↑30 May 2025, 22:26 Started tear down of the front suspension on the 05 XC90. Bad news at alignment shop…I was running out of time for my 4pm appt (as well as energy and emotional fortitude) and skipped the inner/outer tie rods as the outers looked fairly new. Whelp the inners have a teeny bit of play in them. Frustrating as I checked them and did not feel any. So we’ll tackle that one another day, at least no bill for an alignment…
