I just cleaned up after being stymied 90% through an alternator replacement.
I have the alternator's bolts out but can't budge the lower AC compressor bolts.
Tomorrow...... This is a 2007 V70 base.
What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Usually I don't run them THAT far down but I simply forgot that I wanted to replace them when I put the winter wheels on, so it was a bit of a surprise in the spring(ish)![]()

It looks like a combination of rust and metal fatigue. I wonder if I can replace it without fully removing the subframe but only lowering it. And whether I should unbolt the steering rack or just the bolt from the steering column.
The engine will be held by a hoist.

I think part of the reason my sway bar snapped was that I might have overtightened it when I was replacing the transmission. I had it removed to replace bushings only to find them welded shut. So I gave up and reinstalled it....but I may have torqued it down too much. Despite the end links being disconnected the sway bar itself felt stiff, with almost no movement up or down.
This one might have been on me.

Planned on pulling a junk yard power steering pump to see if mine is too tough. Friend complained it was too tough which stopped the deal. If it gets fixed then they are open to the car. Otherwise she goes on the facebook marketplace. My indy said he can safety the car, and it does not need anything major to safety (one endlink). Will find time to sell the car in July at some point.

Darn, Abscate beat me too those brake pads! They could have gone on a few more miles yet!
For those newer members this is a long standing joke between me and Abscate. Being Scottish I can't think why.......
Neil.
