Re: Door lock problems

I don't think so? The broken red pin just stops the motor being able to turn and unlock the mechanism, the problem with the resistor inside the motor, discussed earlier in the thread, stops the motor having the power to turn the mechanism to unlock it. In either case, lifting the door locking knob, or if the lock has a key, turning the key, will unlock the mechanism.

Basically, no.

This thread is all about locks that are broken in some way such that, the only way to get the lock cap (that sticks up out of the door panel) to go up and/or down is to reach over and pull on it manually. So you can still open the door once it is unlocked, as long as the lock cap is still is still attached and accessible in the cabin.

Doors that won't open will have other maladies, other than the actuator's plastic nubbin or motor.

As promised, a few pics of the unbroken "red pin", even though it's yellow on both door locks that I've got.

Nice, those pics will likely be useful to someone. I'm not surprised the actuator has changed somewhat in an 05 C70, but also not surprised the design is basically the same.

Looking at the state of the pin, it doesn't look very healthy, and appears to have a slight bend on it already? Having played with the mechanism, the only time that pin is touched, is when the motor actuator turns in the unlock direction. I've got the old one to come out, so will have a play with it, and see if there is any way to possibly repair, or make a replacement. They aren't cheap ! Looking at it though, I'm at a loss as to how and open it? looks like "boyoyoyong" moment as springs fly in every direction ?
