Codes cleared but the 3-1-3 couldn't be erased..drove few kilometers and no other codes came back.

So probably it will be in the rear left sensor... Will take it appart and hopefully will see where is the problem.

Thanks, will post the result when it done

p.s. funny is that when I read the A-3 codes, the LED is on all the time o.O but not so bright as when it gives codes.. have you seen something like that? does it mean something?

FYI - I just bought a module from Matt at Midwest ABS.
Got it fast, had a couple questions that he answered super fast & fixed my 96 850 Glt painlessly ( except for dropping a couple tools, lol).
I highly recommend this fine gentleman & his service.
:)
now ya know.

Hi guys!
I've been resolving my ABS issue for a while now and I have been looking in to every possible forum and guide and have yet to come across this type of issue:
V70 mk1 2000 2.4NA 103kw. ABS-light, CEL, TCS and occasional brake system failure light started flashing out of the blue.

Looked into the issue and decided to first try the old solder trick. The box was fine however under inspection, my box was some newer type and the soldering work was really good. However I resoldered each connection just to be sure and tested the circuit board with a multimeter throughout. I put it back in, and a few miles and the lights come on again.. what a bummer..

Ok, next thing, I measure resistance readings from the sensor. Front left sensor was open circuit. I figured it could have been the brake disc overheating and damaging the sensor, since my brake caliper was really really stuck. Anyhow, got that fixed and switched in a sensor and BAM! Everything is working!

Drove around happily for around 1000 miles or a month or so and the ABS light comes back again, and his friends too. This time the ABS pump went haywire while driving out of a parking lot and after that the fault was on-off -type for one day, and now it's constant on each start. Went and measured the resistance of the FL sensor, and it was open circuit again, no reading. Left sensor gave me around 600-700 ohms.

What could cause this type of behaviour? I can't figure out, even to begin with, what could be the culprit here. Do you guys have any ideas?

I have seen comments that the 2001 ABS/DSTC modules are unrepairable. However, BBA-Reman advertise exchange/remanufacturing nowadays. See http://www.bba-reman.com/catalogue/Deta ... roduct=793

Would this be the same solder joint issue then, for a home fix?

However I do consider getting a unit off the scrap yard, but seems there are a few different p/n with physically identical looking units. Can they be interchangeable perhaps? It would be easier if they were as I have more options then.

My car is a V70 T5, 2001, with DSTC. The ABS module# 8634413.
Other ABS/DSTC modules that look alike are: 8691717, 9496931, and 9496643. Could any of those also work?

Completely different unit than the type that is discussed in this thread. If BBA says they can repair it, then they would be the first ones I've heard of doing it. It's an oddball unit and wasn't used for very long by Volvo.

1. With that type of unit you don't automatically rule out the module because the lights are on. $$$ says to get it scanned first.

2. Your module is mated to your car. You can't swap a different unit on as it isn't plug and play.

Wow, 33 pages. Will this ever end.

I have a question... Several people have reported that their speedo stopped, mileage goes ----.-, and the tack (I believe) doesn't work when the module goes on the blink. Maybe not all 3 symptoms (other than the lights). Now for the question, if your mileage goes ----.-, does that effect the cars ability to count mileage?

So, if the module goes out at 175,555 and you leave it broke for several weeks, when you get it fixed will the mileage read 175,555 or 182,098?

Not sure on the mileage tracking but did have those issues with our module . Also effected the all trac system abs ect throwing warning lights but actually effecting driving traction and performance. Once repaired by the module guys in Moscow Idaho all symptoms and performance issues disappeared.

The instrument cluster will stop registering mileage when the speed signal fails. There is another function in the cluster though that tallies engine hours without a speedometer signal but the actual mileage tally while the module has failed is lost. It isn't like when the odometer gear breaks and the cluster keeps accurately tallying the mileage.

In reality, after the speedometer quits working, most people fix it pretty quickly.

Hello guys.

Today I took my abs module out,( I had the abs and tracs lights on in the dash), followed all the details, and soldered all the pins. I put everything back, and went for a drive. A few meters down the street the abs and tracs lights turned off, so I was happy. A few minutes after, I floored it, and the lights came back on. When I turn off the car and turn it back on the lights turn off like it's fixed, and every time I floor it they come back on and they dont turn off until I turn off the car. I am really confused. What can I do?

thanks
