The verb to screw up the Internet is 'ajitpai' loosely translated from Sanskrit as

'Let's turn ISP into the cable company because that works well'

My blower motor started making this grumbling noise when in 4+ setting and after shutdown. I was able to get a new knockoff from ebay and just transferred the resistor.

It was working really good upon install but develop this "rattling" sound, like hitting the edge of an index card, when in 4+ setting again. I've read somewhere that someone just loosened the fan and rattling went away. But I still removed the fan, operated it while out and concluded fan is working as it should be. Checked the shroud and inside the hole, nothing there.

Re-installed the fan and same thing with the rattling noise. Loosened the screws and no more rattling.

It's a PIA working on it since it's winter here and temp was a little cold. I was scared that I might break the stopping flap in glove box, other side is already broke from the previous owner. Happy that there's no more rattling noise but not happy with the cut I got on my thumb.

Hello,

By any chance, did anybody downloaded the pictures posted by Worldbound4now? They have gone...

I would appreciate anything (downloaded photos, image of the printed instructions with photos, etc.).

Thanks a lot,
Kunta

Search XC90 forum, I posted a DIY for 2005 XC90 blower motor lubrication.
It is almost identical procedure for S60, V70 series.

You will need to break one tab (out of 5 tabs) to get the blower motor out.

oragex, nice video. Did you have to break the 5 tab to get the Blower Motor out?

In the video below, for the 2001-2007 V70, the lady said 4 screws but when she showed the blower motor, she mentioned 5 screws.

Does anyone know if a 2004 V70 has 4 screws (and a "phantom 5th screw")?
Is there anyway to remove the 5th screw without breaking the tab on the blower motor?

I pulled my 2005 motor out without breaking anything , but I’m pretty well equipped with wobbles, flex extensions, etc.

I recall it being a pretty easy job.
