From briefly reading the thread your problem is with the CEL monitors
If that is the case, my state has a work around where you can take it to the main inspection place in the city. A government employed inspector will come out and look at the car, and see you've driven XXX miles and sign it off for that year, if that is the only thing holding you up. I know because I had to do this on a V70 I briefly owned.
Not saying NY has something similar, but it might be worth looking into.

Hi everyone, have driven only 25 miles since I tried the Diode trick. No check engine lights. But monitors still not ready.
A few questions, can't seem to find these anymore...
When you solder in the diode:
- is EGR supposed to be "automatically" ready?
- how fast would one get a check engine light after doing the delete? (how do I know it's working?)
Semester is starting soon so and I need to swap struts and replace engine mounts in the S40... not sure I have much more time to devote to these machine.(God this clutch is so much more fun...)

The SAS delete code will come the next start after the code is set,so two start cycles. It’s looking for very lean Oxygen leveksin the oxygen sensor ( OXS) during cold start indicating excess air is getting pumped in by the pump. The diode is lowering the OXS voltage , we are lucky the system doesn’t check that the level ones back up after it turns the pump off.
Your EGR will take a long time to go ready because you don’t have one

Post up your monitor list and status!
