Harbor Freight still sells them! Of all parts to clean and reuse, I don't know why people try to push spark plugs so far beyond their service life.
Then again, this is Abscate we're talking about...

Gasoline got better, oil improved, and computers took over from points and mechanical advance distributors and carburetors - all the stuff that could carbon up your plugs before their allotted time in service. It was mostly the DIY crowd for cars, but for airplanes it is still common practice.

I'm continuing my legal medicine session with my 850. I removed the passenger seat and the backrest no longer reclines. This thing weighs the weight of a dead donkey. I also took out the passenger side carpet for a deep cleaning: humidification with cold water - washing - sodium bicarbonate sprinkled and left to act for an hour:

You can see how the power acts... Incredible. I don't know what the last owner has thrown on it, i do prefer not to know obliviously



Electric trick :
Here, it's the big mystery : there a cable that goes from the back of the alternator to the relay, it seems to be the cable that comes from this part (clear blue arrow) :

The relay HELLA (SAAB), has got the big red cable that comes from the main harness. Why did they do that ? :

I don't feel really comfortable wtih car wiring, becaise essentially i don't know well that stuff. But... (wait a minute...) but i have wirng harness. So i will see basically the cables colors tomorrow with the scheme, it should be okay.


Rear window wiper : there is power. So, i'm nearly sure it comes from the pump in the engine bay...

That diagram you posted is the AC compressor. Specifically it looks to the be the wire for the clutch magnet.

the next big challenge is to re-dress the the roof sky. Any suggestion for what material to use ?

Did the rear shock mount fight today.

Why did Volvo decide to use fasteners 3 times longer than they need to be in open mounting holes?


1 came out, 2 stopped part way and one broke...


With the 2 that stopped part way and the broken one, I turned them back to where the threads were smooth, but still had enough room to chop the tops off with the angle grinder. I then I ground a groove in the top and used a screwdriver to screw them out the bottom of the hole.

One was too boogered up to turn with the screwdriver, so I had to drill it out. The weld nut also went with it, so I put my riv-nut tool to work again and installed a new threaded insert.

Mounts are all nice and fresh now.

I've wanted to get a riv nut tool, those are really helpful to have. I could have used one on my car for the charcoal canister mount when I snapped off the welded nut.
Interesting, I've never had an issue with those bolts though. I always just zip them out with an impact, they come right out.

Could be due to your location. Doubt you see much salt/brine on the roads in the winter.

An impact might've helped, or it could've just busted the weld nuts off. There's no need for so much extra fastener sticking out in the elements like that, however.

Yeah, I’m spoiled with my southern cars lol. Given the location of the bolts, they probably take on a lot of spray from the road. They could be a little shorter.
