Re: A $100 '99 V70 GLT
Wow, the water pump gasket didn't break at all. I thought I was lucky with only a small chunk sticking to the other mating surface.

^ Yeah that was a bit of luck. I just gave it one smart smack with a rubber mallet.
I'm thinking that the block will be fine with the flush of the radiator, which I was planning to do anyway.

Now I'm thinking that maybe I should try and flush the block out before I install the new pump. Maybe just stuff a hose in there and give it a blast... ? After installing the cam cover etc of course.

Last picture, Erik’s favourite water pipe bolts!
Good time to put them in while you can still see them

Is it worth considering flushing the system but then running a coolant flush through the system for a short time when the engine is running and then re-flushing and then adding coolant and distilled water?

Ha, funny you should mention those bolts. I have been operating under the assumption that I had the gasket in my stash ( I didn't ) so I figured to do it along with the water pump. For some reason I decided to make sure that I had the right bolts, and that everything lined up.
Glad that I did. I couldn't get things lined up enough for me to honestly tell if the bolts I were using were correct or not, since they were also missing like everything else. So off to the junkyard again to pull two bolts that I knew would be right. Even then I had to fiddle with that pipe to get things lined up. The whole time your thinking about just how much fun it would be to cross thread one of them.
So the bolts are partially threaded in while I await the gasket.
Grabbed an ECT while I was out there.

Ive got plenty spares and can drop one in the mail - let me know..
You have to use the right bolts as the holes are blind , so too long a bolt won’t seal.
I’ll double check but I think they are the same as water pump bolts.
Confirmed. Part number 985151 fits both the water pipe 2x and water pump 7x
Skandix tells us M7 x 25mm length
Part #9 and #29 below

Hit a little bit of a speed bump today. I think this will leak.
" Confirmed Fitment " front camshaft seal # 32402269 ( Elring # 135151 ). Near as I can tell, I ended up with # 9458309.
I checked the size of the original : 45x65x7
Size of what I got : 51x65x7
So is this just one of those '99 things ? It wouldn't be the first time I have found a couple of listings for the same part with no reference to vin #.

Your GLT has VVT exhaust so it takes a different size cam seal than the rest of the P80s
I’ve got those too. Did you get your water pipe gasket?
