Update on my earlier post...The parts from D. W. Volvo were delivered on saturday, installed today. The whole job took apx. an hour, to clean-up the t. body and install new plate....At start-up I noticed a better idle, even a tad lower rpm..The car is still not real fast off the line, the the throttle response is diffinetly better. If your going to "really" clean the throttle body on your NA engine it is worth the 12.70...I have included the parts #'s off the invoice.....3501603-9 throttle disc.
943781-5 screw
9135990-1 gasket

Thanks to all thanks to D.W. Volvo!

Why can't you just cut the plastic piece off the 850 plate?

If you remove the plastic you will be left with a hole in the plate itself....that will screw up the idle, among other things....call up Darrell Waltrip Volvo they will be glad to help you out....

No problem- not a stupid question at all...take the hose to it off and then you'll find 4 10mm screws holding it on...just undo them and it pops right off...make sure you use a new gasket when reinstalling it...I don't have a torque wrench that small so I just retorque the German way- Gootandtite.

haha, ok sounds good. I don't have a torque wrench either but gootantite sounds good to me. I'll have to wait until monday to do any work because I work all weekend, so I'll let you know if I run into any problems.

Another stupid question, I'm afraid... :(

Can someone take a look at this picture and tell me if this is infact the throttle body?

This isn't a pic of my engine bay, I have a GLT not a turbo, but it's all the same...

No, that's just the throttle cover...take it off...then you see where the turbo hose is to the right of it? That will have to come off to give you room- then you'll see another turbo hose connected directly to the inlet of the throttle body- take it off...and the square thingy with a round hole in it is your throttle body...hope this helps. Your surrounding area might look a bit different from this picture (this is on an non-turbo) but the round opening where the large hose attaches and square throttle body look essentially the same: Image

Thanks guys. I have a non-turbo as well, that picture was something I found online. haha I'm replacing my axles this tuesday after class so I'll probably take care of the air box mod and then take a look at the throttle body. I'm trying to find a junkyard near my house that has a 960 so I can get the throttle plate. MIJ, you mentioned that I needed to get a new gasket I think...can I order that from FCP or something?
