Some of the pintle diameters can vary from solenoid to solenoid. Otherwise they're pretty uniform in design apart from the casing variations.
One thing I CAN guarantee is that if it's the original B4 cover the internal cover washer will be dislodged and also severely bent. This alters the shift timing from 2-3.....Flares or no flares.
I just pulled a B4 cover from a low mileage '01 XC70 yesterday (118K kilometres) or around 73k miles and the washer was dislodged and slightly bent. On my V70 @ 255k kilometres it was a bent mess.
IPD are having a sale right now on these for under $27

Felt like it was time today to address the transmission twerks. Read a bit about it on the interweb and found a solenoid calibration chart by Rostra. Car runs great but I want it to shift perfect.
As far as I understand you adjust the SLT til you have a line pressure between 5-10 psi. Then you adjust the SLS for shift feel and if going to reverse clunks.
My drive and reverse goes in sort of fine but I have hard 1-2, 2-1 shifts so I bet it's the SLU solenoid that I screwed up / didn't adjust right.

Initial test showing a line pressure of around 3 psi which is too low. Neutral to Drive is slightly delayed and goes in with a bit of a thump.
No adjustments made so far. I'm gonna go to Pick Your part end of the month for the 50% off. Need a ton of stuff and I'm also gonna pick up a valve body cover which I'm gonna drill into to get access to the linear solenoids.

Went to Pick Your Part today and got the following:
New set of solenoids that I'm gonna fix (hopefully without screwing them up this time)

New valve body oil pan that I will drill holes into for access to the linear solenoids

Spare ETM for the white S70

Spare fuel pump relay

Rear light for the red S70

A mud flap for the red S70

Sun visor with Home Link for the red S70

I paid $102 for everything which I guess is a reasonable price. Will get back with an update as soon as I have played around with the transmission adjustment.
Happy New Year!

Hey it's a 2001 build ETM however still great as a spare. Man parts at the picking yard are far cheaper over there!!

Yeah well it was 50% off. It isn't always this "cheap" at the other side of the pond.
EDIT: But gas right now is silly cheap

Try these fuel prices per litre for size:
and they have regularly been 1.40-1.60/litre all year
I think government wants us to take holidays on the road and spend money.

Haven't had the energy to look at the tranny yet but today I gave my T5 some TLC:
Missing mud flap replaced

Sun visor with Home Link (yes it's dirty I'll clean it)

Old antenna strip/cable removed from motor. New one is on the way.

Also flushed the power steering system. It was low and making noises. Don't think it's leaking but I'm keeping a close eye on it.

Please explain what a homelink visor can do. They weren't an Aussie option.
Can it help to beam you back to the car by pressing the remote:D
