oh ho ho, you poor suckers. My black seats aren't great, but they're decent for 265k and 19 years. Certainly not as bad as some of the tan seats have fared. Hard to tell how much of this is because the black seats are hardier vs the black seats better hide dirt and stains.

I'll pull out the "I swear the pictures make them look worse than they are" excuse for now, but eventually the fronts will need replacement. I'm planning to get some seat covers for my Mercedes from Lseat soon; they don't offer covers for the 99 V70, but maybe I can get them my covers and have them make a pattern.

I just hit one of the rears with Lexol cleaner and conditioner, and a few days after application it feels significantly more supple and pliable than the other, though neither has any cracking. I hope to keep it that way by taking good care of them.

I think thus far June has the best seats. Mine are doing rather good but definitely aren't in the near-perfect state hers are in.

June certainly has the best looking seats so far, but I'm still kind of baffled at how good they look for being maintained with Armor All. I've never used it on leather, mainly because there are products specifically made for leather, but after reading around, it really shouldn't be used on leather. It isn't able to soak into it and nourish the leather like it needs. It just puts a layer over it, and I can't say how well it protects it. Especially being silicone based, I don't know how good of an idea that could be.
Although, I have to say, those seats look fantastic for only being maintained with Armor All.

Maby the Armor All has protected the plastic finish over the leather? If I understand that people are saying the leather has a plastic coating coating? Then my seats may have faired as good as they have because the coating is still intact sealing the leather. My leather is as soft and supple as it was new and the seating still feels really comfortable. I raised 2 children, 3 dogs, and of course 1 husband LOL during this cars ownership. This Christmas will be 14 years since delivery.

What is showing wear are the drip rails on the roof, and the passenger side B pillar fabric is coming loose thanks to my elderly father, and both front seat belts have cosmetics on them that I can't seem to remove. The rest of the car looks nearly new. Next visit to Volvo I will check on replacing the B pillar as that really bothers me. I do have 143k on the car so some wear is inevitable. June

Yes I am now stuck in Holliday with my sister which is just north of Tampa and all models show Irma directly hitting Holliday yay! Jacksonville looks better although Jax Beach where my house is is likely still in mandatory evacuation. This might be the end of my beloved S80. As Irma hits here I'll post some pics on my post in the non car talk section where I posted the pics of I75 parking lot last night.

Will my leather survive Irma is the question on my mind????? Thanks abscate, I'll keep my MVS friends informed. June

Your car should be okay based on storm surge looking like 3-5 feet at JAX, if you up above aground at all.

Can you move up North inland at all or is traffic done? Every bit inland is good, as the storm will rapidly lose intensity over ground, and loss of intensity is good.

That is true, the Armor All probably protects the layer of sealer on the leather. Forgot about that!

Definitely be safe down there! I have an uncle in Tampa who didn't leave, so I'm hoping they're alright through this. The storm track seems to have adjusted a little bit, so hopefully the winds aren't as bad as they anticipated in Charlotte.

Hi,

What kind of solutions are available, leather or vinyl, that could replace the seat part?
Hopefully low cost.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Well, the obvious source is the junkyard. Just remove the leather seat covers and re-wrap yours. But that's hit or miss.
There is a guy who makes reproduction seat skins for these Volvos, but I don't remember the name of the business. Someone on here knows it, I'm sure. I think his are also genuine leather. Not too cheap though.
