All the on-line stores have them- make sure you get one for an N/A...but, you might have luck at a NAPA...even at the Volvo dealer this won't cost you an arm and a leg.

I reused the existing tb gasket with some rtv smeared on for good measure.

I've done that too here recently as it has come off 3 or 4 times trying to figure out some issues with my TPS... but I think I'm due for another- the gasket is smooth and shiny and I know it's really suppose to absorb the oil which helps it keep sealing. If in a real pinch I believe you could cut a shoebox to be an exact fit.

With the TB off, is it easy to adjust and tighten the throttle cable?

No. You want to adjust the throttle cable with the TB in place and the flexible tube going to the TB removed. Have someone slowly press the gas pedal and watch the TB cable for slack and TB plate for movement. There is a fine line between allowing the throttle plate to be fully closed with an audible click when you take your foot off the gas and instant throttle response. It takes a little fine tuning but its a really quick and easy job if you have an eye for detail.
cheers

gotcha, thanks a lot. I still need to find a replacement throttle plate, then I'll take a look at the TB.

Apparently the dealer sells the 960 throttle plate alone for $20 which is a killer deal if you don't have any 960s in your local JY.
good luck

No way! Would that be every dealer, do you think? I'll call them sometime in the next few days.

Hello,

I'm new but after reading the forums and post about this mod, I had to bite the bullet and do it. This is my story.

Called local volvo dealership and asked for throttle body thinking the plate could not be sold separately. Got that notion from a jy as many others have said. Well they ordered me a 960 TB housing instead and no plate. :( so another trip had me on backorder for the plate and set screws. 2 weeks later i was ready to go.

Pulled off the TB on my B5254S and removed the plate for replacement. Then came the hiccup. The 850 plate was smaller than the new 960. That means the TB is also a smaller diameter also. Recalling that I had mistakenly ordered a 960 TB with the plate, I then proceded to do a teardown of the 850 and relocated all the fittings to the new TB (except for the 2 vacuum fittings). After installation, I reset the Fuel trim and was ready for a test drive.

A lot of low end response and I'd even say power. Almost to the point to being dangerous. I would have to lightly feather the gas or else it'll jump right to 2500 and lurch forward. Luckily my feet are light or else my garage door would be another added expense. Really considering going back to the old plate.

Any of you guys have any suggestions on how to lower the response a bit without switching back to the old TB and plate?
