Shimmed my block, might just be placebo but it was just 5 bucks worth of metal

And made a power loom for my oil pressure gauge that plugs into the accessories connector

Getting another package delivered tomorrow, I should be able to start putting things back together

3 hours and got the top of Elizabeth’s motor. Life is good

Lots of bent valves.

Celebrated by going to see Brandi Carlisle and Indigo Girls at Tanglewood.

Brandi was excellent, beautiful range and also wonderful three part harmony

spent a few hours at my mechanics helping around while getting a seized rear engine pad replaced on the v70. Picked some parts from a car they are going to scrap and hoping to get the front done in the morning.

changed the front and rear mounts, still have a vibration and it does not look like the exhaust. Since both mounts were shot i am wondering if it caused the side mount to fail early.

On a FWD you have really only 3 mounts. Front and rear cone mounts (hydraulic oil filled) and the pad under the crank pulley. Easy to tell on that one. Put a piece of wood under the oil pan near the crank pulley and jack it slowly and see if the metal bracket and rubber separate.

Only other 2 are the upper and lower torque rods.

I’ll check if it’s shot tomorrow and then order the part and change it on Tuesday. Car shifts smoother thanks to the changed hydraulic mounts. The old mounts were over a centimetre compressed when compared to the ones put in

Ah, they have lasted well! But even Volvo mounts don't last for ever.
