With my 'R' I get about what you do in city driving. On the highway I get maybe 23-24mpg on a good day at around a steady 70-75 mph.

With my Non-turbos I used to get nearer 32 mpg on the highway.

My cousin's old NA S70 got around 30 mpg on a few longer highway trips he took. They can get great gas mileage!

I've managed near 30 mpg in a T5M. But it was 450 highway miles of down hill, so not sure that really counts.

I would always average 26 highway, and that was with a really worn out and tired engine. I think the 5spd helps a lot. My 99 wouldn't do better than 23.

bmdubya1198 wrote: 26 Feb 2023, 20:11 How do you guys get such good gas mileage? I can't get better than 19 mpg in normal conditions. On longer highway drives, if I reset the average, I can get it up around 22.
Same here. I get 25mpg with my 96 NA 850, but I only get about 22.x with my 99 S70 GLT.... almost all highway, with cruise on, fairly flat terrain. Granted it's winter, so I'll get some mileage back when we switch to summer gas. The best I've ever gotten with the S70 is 25mpg... once maybe twice?

Last time I asked about mileage I was told it was driving style/speed, but I'm not out there racing.

I have not pulled the plugs on the S70, or had a scanner hooked up to it. I don't have anything that seems to want to talk to it.

Alignment for all four wheels off? Tires not inflated to max tire rating? Bad thermostat? Bad plugs? Brakes or wheel bearings dragging? My T5 gets about 24/25 MPG at steady 70 MPH these days. This is after warm, up to speed, and then resetting the MPG reading.

Well our roads are a little hill-y and curvy, and I don't do a TON of highway driving in this car. That probably contributes to reduced gas mileage.
Ironically the average MPG in my X5 (daily driver) currently is about 20. It's hilarious.

Not to brag, but I was getting 24mpg driving nothing but hilly, curvy back roads. 8)

Driven a little over 1000miles already. Nothing really to report. Have an ABS code for the right rear wheel speed sensor shorted to ground. And got an evap system large leak code after running through 2.5 tanks of gas. Have intermittent problems with the ECC. I suspect the module is bad, but I can't find my known good spare. Other than that, just plugged my second tire in 2 weeks. Still getting about 24mpg. Should really replace the cap and rotor.

I'm getting 24/25 mpg. I was getting 26+ before I started improving things.
