Hello:
Last weekend I opened my 1996 car for putting a 94's body throttle with 65mm repaired plate and: My car has a 55mm throttle body with the plastic piece and the tube from the air filter is little for the new throttle body.
If I do the change to 65mm throttle, what things may occurs?
Do you have the 2 liter/10 valve engine?

The car (should) compensate for increased airflow through the plate and match with the according fuel mixture, though I don't know how much power gain you would expect on that particular engine.

Right, the same will apply. I am unfamiliar with the 10V motors, but with ANY car, increased airflow (to an extent) will give it a bit more power.

Yes, more fuel consumption.

This is nearly a dead post, but an interesting one for all the N/A 850/s/v70 owners out there. Does anyone (except justin) have long term data on the effect this mod has on gas milage?

Thanks. Always interested in cheap and fun mods for these cars. Just want to make sure it doesn't ding the pocketbook in the process.

usually a mod will increase the amount of gas used and the amount exiting your wallet at exponential rates... lol
My new thought would involve a Porsche engine (at least the trans) and new electronics... rear engine v8 anyone? I know... the glue sniffing can render my mind to glucose ...

$1 or less depending on whether they decide to charge you for it.

I have a 98 S70 NA with 217K:

I did the 960 throttle plate and put the airbox thermostat permanantly to the cold side at 183,808 on 07/28/09 and, subjectively, noticed a very pleasant increase in throttle response without any discernable effect on MPG. Per your comment, this is cheap, fun, and not to mention easy and quick mod.

I added a K&N air filter at 188,347 and didn't "feel" any real change in throttle reponse while MPG dipped about 1 to 1.5 MPG for several months before the average MPG inexpliciably recovered to its former level. I think it was probably some other factor that caused that.

At my current mileage of 217K I am pleased to average about 21 to 23 MPG (depending on how much city vs urban/hwy driving I do). I leave the tranny in Sport mode at all times.
