Fitting a better intercooler will reduce the temperature of the charge pressure, but those aluminum (say Do88) intercoolers are expensive.
Like you said, sometimes we get it wrong. Been there, done that many times!

What I read is the supposed benefit is lower intake manifold heat soak, leading to a reduction in charge temperature. Idea is less heat in the manifold, less heat in the air coming in. Not sure if it's the same supplier but I am curious as well.
