Need the best cable for Vol-FCR

Post by tommylg »

"98 S70 GLT

The images show a 2006 HP Pavillion dv400 w/Programa software and the various ports.
This software, when plugged-in w/an OBDII and connected to a PC Retriever 8700 Vehicle Interface.
This displays real time data, fault codes, etc.

Joe's Computer Shop installed a Wi-Fi Adapter and now I can access the internet and attempt to download the Ilexia V0l-FCR scan tool. I have been on their site, however if there is a better way please let me know. Is the download free, or is there a charge and I am just renting the access?
It would be great if the software is "mine" as that will just add to the value of the vehicle if I decide to turn it.

I added most of this info to narrow down what exact cable I will need considering the set-up I have.
Elm327, FTDI based cabe (whatever that is), USB Vag Com.

Thanks and please give me some feedback,
Tommy

Mine is a Vag Com KKL with the 409.1 chip, works great with Vol fcr. Nothing fancy, just your average 10$ cable from ebay.

Thank you, Goupil.
I will order one from Walmart today.
Any thoughts on my other concerns will be appreciated?

I have VOLFCR running on a virtual box in mac osx. Planning to port the disk to windows 11 laptop soon. If you want to run it on a more recent device then i can create a tut or link for it.
