Turn signal indicator issue

Post by Sveedy »

Well this is a bit odd -
Left turn dash indicator stopped working. But the signals themselves work. And the dash indicator does work with the hazards on, so the bulb is good. Normal clicking sound, but no green arrow. Any ideas ? Only thing I can think of would be the stem itself, but that seems weird to me since I hear the turn signal clicking.

Could be a bad earth connection either from the light unit itself or internal to it. Even a failing bulb can give the symptoms. Only other thing might be the flasher unit or relay.

Definitely up there in the weird dept.!

Under the dash, to the left of the steering column,
you'll find two large distribution blocks with 5 plugs each.
The one nearest the column has a red plug in position 4.

Disconnect the negative post of the battery, then unplug
and reseat the red plug a few times. That may get it.

Well you nailed it BEJinFbk ! I did exactly as you suggested and bingo - The indicator works again.
Thanks again !

And now the radio doesn't work. I think I might have released an electrical gremlin....

Without getting back into the diagrams,
( on the wrong device right now...) I can’t
recall if any radio power runs through that
particular power distribution connector or not,
but it can’t hurt to be sure that it’s well seated.

Did this car ever suffer any flood damage?
Plays heck with connectors...

No flood damage here. I'm the second owner, and I don't think the car has even been driven in the rain more than a dozen times in it's life.
But the original owner lived in an area that loved speed bumps. Everything rattled when I got it, so who knows what might be working loose.

I figure that it has to be a connection under there. Antenna doesn't rise either.
