Instrument cluster lights not working

Post by dksoutha »

I replaced my original instrument cluster with a used one from eBay. Besides adding 115,000+ miles to the car, some of the lights do not work - specifically the numbers on the speedometer and tachometer do not illuminate, though others lights work fine. Any ideas? Also, is there a way to use VIDA to correct the indicated milage?

MDK here, I'm sure that what you're saying is true however the forum needs to know what kind of Volvo it is and the year. I had a 2002 v70 and the entire cluster would work when it wanted and turned out it needed the circuit board on the back resoldered.. you can't change the mileage, it's hard wired in. You should get the old one back and start again.. in my opinion

You can buy the lights and replace them, theres two different kinds on the instrument cluster with a total of about 15 or 20 lights. I always grab a bunch at the auto wreckers as my car seems to burn them out frequently also.
