hello community
hope everyone is well
i just bought my dreamcar
a volvo s70 lpt m56
to keep it as short as possible
the car burns a lil oil
it has 205000 km
and im sure its bc of the valve sealing
so i want to redo the motor
i would love to redo many things on the motor
to kind of make it bulletproof and then go on with a bigger turbo and bigger injectors
it doesnt habe to be an overkill
just to have a peacefull mind and 250 to 300 horsepower
so what do you guys think i should do
i found a big set with many sealings on skandix
like headgasket, valve sealing, many orings and other sealings
is that sufficient or do u guys think i should change more things to make the motor bulletproof
i would also change all the vacuum and cooling hoses
i hope to find some knowledgeable men here in the community that can give me advice on where to start and where to set the border
thanks for reading
god bless

Skandix has a good reputation with our European MVS user base. Over here, there's less experience with them because of shipping costs outside of your continent. Here is a similar thread to yours: 850R complete engine rebuild + some questions

I can't tell who makes that gasket kit, which would be good to know. I emailed Skandix to ask them.

Well Skandix wasn't much help they said "Thank you for your enquiry. This item is after market. We cannot inform you about supplier ."

I don't know if you have any other options but I would try to be very sure about quality when selecting engine gaskets.

buddy thats great
thank you so much
if i choose to open the engine and get rid of the burned stemseal valves
what do u thnk i should also attack
its a b5254t engine woth 200k km
u think i should also go for pistonrings or should i leave that
in fact the engine runs well it just burnes some oil which isnt much but im not used to checl the oil all the time and carry oil with me
sorry for being an amateur i just didnt found a thread with charakter of the engine and which parts of the engine get used first
the other thing is that i will buy the parts to drive somewhere else to do the repair so i wont be abke to change the plan after the motor is open
which is pretty stupid but yeah
thanks anyway 💪🏼💪🏼

I'd recommend replacing the piston rings especially since you said the engine burns oil. On my 99V70XC, the engine was consuming about 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. I did a leak down test and it had a lot of blow-by, mostly in cylinder 4. I've driven it 1,300 miles since replacing the piston rings and the oil level is pretty much where it was, maybe a hair lower...it's definitely not drinking 1 quart per 1000miles like before.
It's blowby
