Perform an ECM upgrade, P/N 30668282.
My car is a C70 2007 with 140K miles. After all the symptoms, thinking was the fuel pump, relay, filter...everything related to fuel I found this in one of the online mechanics. I think this is exactly my problem, talk about everything that happened. So now I need to replace or repair or reprogram my ECM. Does anybody knows of someone or how to upgrade the ECM, of course the best solution should be take the car to the dealer, just called them and they ask me to take the car, the car is not driving so there goes $200, the repair would cost maybe 5 or 600...not what I'm looking for. So if anyone have any idea please. Thank you in advance to everyone. I'm uploading an official or very official looking Volvo Boletin, hopefully will help some one or many

I know this is an old post, I just found it and maybe this will help someone. I also had the dreaded vehicle shutdown a couple of times. Disconnecting then reconnecting the battery got it running again, but I strongly disagree with the philosophy of stranding someone when there was no actual mechanical problem. In my case it turned out that CAN bus wiring was not done correctly. After I fixed that, the error code problems have stopped.
I'm just learning about Volvos, diagnostics, software updating, etc. This is what I've learned so far (a lot of hours of research and many many ways to do this).
You need an interface- physical adapter that plugs into the OBD-II connector under the dash, and a computer running software that performs the software upgrade.
The classic Volvo / dealer method is a "Dice" interface, and Volvo "Vida" software.
There are clone adapters that may work, but many people will advise to only use a real Volvo Dice.
There is also "Vdash" software that might be able to do the upgrade. I'm currently evaluating Vida and Vdash. It turns out that neither appear to be free. You can download and install both, but to do anything actually useful you have to buy modules / software.
I love my '06 S40, but some of this software difficulty is discouraging. I wish companies would make it easier, not harder, to repair things.
