Kiddo ran into someone else's car last week, so I'm doing repairs. I have VIDA, but for the life of me can't find anything about getting the steel bumper bar off. I took out the four bolts that hold it to the frame, but there seem to be some welds (I've read hints that they need to be drilled out).
Can anyone confirm? How big a hole do I need to make, and do I need to drill all six circular areas?
Many thanks!

I had a chance to go at it with the drill today. To answer my own questions: yes, all six areas need to be drilled out in their centers. I started with a small bit and worked up to 3/8 in, which was enough to separate the four welds on the ends. The two inner circular areas needed a slightly larger hole but I got them apart with a pry bar.
Two screws at the top of the bumper bar attached it to the so-called "front section" (30655380) which is the stamped sheet metal that goes over the radiator/condenser.

Thanks for sharing. I would not have had an idea how to get that off. Our son had a similar issue hitting black ice on a down slope at walking pace and slid into the back of a stopped car at a light.
I was going to fix it myself as it looked just like the bumper cover, grille and that silver under tray on a XC70. Insurance insisted on fixing it. I wish I had done it myself as I had to remove it again to polish the headlights and replace bulbs. Found they had missed several of the plastic rivets and other fixings and what they had used was some cheap junk.
Worst part was the metal backing part has a dent at either end that they decided not to replace but forgot to mention it...........!
Neil.
