Sunroof Cover getting wet

Post by AnthonyJ »

Good afternoon, unfortunately in my 2000 s70 it appears that my sunroof cover gets soaked when it is not in use and put away. There seems to be no water coming into the car so I'm not sure what it could be. If anyone has any information that could help me out that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you have a good Christmas

Try cleaning your sunroof drain holes.

.
Try putting a large plastic garbage bag over the entire sunroof when it first becomes wet from a rain. The wetness should should help the bag stick to the top during the rain. Do try cleaning your sunroof drains first however.

Not sure what the difference is between the P80, P1 or P2 but this may help cover the bases in terms of finding the leak.
.
Should check your carpet as it can soak up quite a bit of water without the surface feeling wet.

Blessings,

As suggested, first make sure the sunroof drains are not blocked. Try blowing carefully with an air line down the drain tubes and look for the head liner flapping in the car. The drains (one each corner of the sunroof 'cassette' split/break with age. Then the only solution is to tape up the sunroof in the short-term and then it requires removing the headliner to fix the drain(s).

If they are clear then I can only suggest you may have a problem like I had on a P80. It was caused by a leak around the top of the windshield. It was worse when the car was pointed uphill and fine downhill.

Good luck!

Neil.

Good video reference! I was looking for something to show where the back drains were. Thanks.
