[XC90 2011, B6324S5] engine identification - does this have the fixed rings?

Post by klax »

Hello, I am in the process of replacing the B6324S5 engine due to a defect that is almost standard for this engine, i.e. oil consumption. In my case, these were huge amounts, i.e. in the last phase it was even 1 liter per 500 km :)

But to the point. I found a company on the Internet that sells engines from Sweden with a minimum mileage of several thousand km from "demo" cars on Allegro. I bought one, but after looking at it, it looks quite suspicious. Namely, Volvo eliminated the defect of oil rings with pistons in 2011, changing the engine model from B6324S to B6324S5. The engine that I received is according to: serial number from 2007 and allegedly comes from a car from 2012.

Do you know if it is possible for Volvo to install blocks from previous years on younger models? First of all, I want to determine whether this engine has already had its rings corrected?
