I have owned since new a 2001 Volvo XC (P2). It has 299200 miles and it is still a daily driver.
Recent problem: The parking lights stay on with the car off and headlight switch turned to off.
Temporary solution: I unplugged the headlight switch and the parking lights stayed on. I pulled fuses 30 and 31 from the driver side fuse panel in the passenger compartment. The lights went off. I reinstalled the fuses and the lights remained off. I cycled through lights on/off, turn indictors, etc. and it appears for the moment the parking lights are behaving normally.
Question: I am thinking the issue arose from a stuck relay. Once the fuses were removed, the relay became "unstuck". Does anyone know if there is a relay for the parking lights and where it is located?
Otherwise, I appreciate any advice/suggestions from the forum members.
Thank you in advance.

Try to find the Electrical Wiring Diagrams for the 2002 Volvo V70. I haven't been able to find the 2001 edition online but 2002 was available and is very close to the same.
The Light Switch Module (LSM) just sends CAN (Controller Area Network) signals to other vehicle modules. The Central Electronics Module (CEM) under the dash to the left of the steering column controls the front parking lights and the Rear Electronics Module (REM) controls the rear parking lights (based on a quick review of the EWD). CMI5 relay in the CEM is for parking brakes. I would try swapping or replacing it first. The REM has two shunts RSH4 and RSH5 that should both be swapped with other shunts to see if that changes the problem. The bad shunts I have seen have visible melting when they go bad. Swapping shunts and relays also scratches the blade contacts inside the sockets and may fix any corrosion problems. The electronic device on the CEM or REM printed circuit board that controls turning the parking lights on and off may have gone bad. That is a much more complicated repair - check the relay and shunts first. Below is the complete wiring diagram for the parking lights from the EWD. The explanation pages at the beginning of the Volvo EWD are very helpful for understanding this document. This page lists the connection codes for the taillights and headlights so the wiring diagram codes make more sense.
Good luck!
