Thanks to answers I got from Matthew's Volvo Site, I brought my 740 GLE to the shop and told the mechanic straightforward exactly what needed to be done: tighten the kickdown cable. Prior to discovering this site, I've had a hard few months trying to explain the shifting behavior of my auto transmission to the mechanics!

Super! Resolutions like yours make the effort I put in to MVS worth it. Admittedly, I don't spend that much time working on this site
.

Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.
Also -> Amazon link. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

MVS is surely a great way to do research before the shop makes you pay for fixing a dozen problems at one visit.
