Does anyone know what this sound is? Seems to be coming from near the fuel pump. There also seems to be a loose sensor or something near the fuel tank, I need to get under there to take a photo.
Please tell me the fuel pump isn't on the way out.

Can anyone identify this sound?

I've attached a picture of the loose connector, at a guess I'd say it's a quick connector that's meant to go to the fuel pump? How the hell is the thing not leaking fuel if this isn't connected?!
Does this mean I need to pull the seats out to get to the fuel pump? Fuuaaarkkk

Bah.
https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code ... FdeR1s46sV
Seems like it's likely it's an unplugged evap line that should be connected to the charcoal vapor canister
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forum/te ... y-canister
I'm gonna drop the exhaust to try and reconnect it and see how I go. I wonder if the connector is broken whether I can cut the line and add a new connector, the line itself is discontinued, just like 75% of the other parts on this pos car.

There's nothing that sh!ts me more than trying to get help or follow a thread and the OP bails without a conclusion so I'll close this out.
The noise was in fact the disconnected evap line. The vapor canister setup seems to be different than on say a V70, the connector for the larger (upper) outlet seems a lot smaller than the big connector for the V70 and I had another loose hose which I presumed was for the smaller (lower) outlet that didn't have a connector at all.
I'm not sure if it came off or what, I had to settle for just placing the hose over the little plastic outlet on the canister, I couldn't get it all the way on though, it's hard to get purchase from behind there and I was afraid to snap the plastic outlet off.
To get to the canister I jacked the car up, took the left wheel off and dropped the exhaust entirely. Another poster on here suggested just lowering the exhaust and suspending with a bungee, but considering the age and the rust it worried me.
To get the exhaust back on I suspended it partly with a bungee, used a floor jack to lift it up and then started rebolting the hangers to the undercarriage from the back towards the front.
The gasket between the downpipe and the catback is totally cactus, I tried to seal it up with some muffler cement but probably did it too early so it dried some. I'm gonna have to get a new gasket and seal it up properly another time.
But for now, the annoying putt putt noise is gone, and while it could be my imagination it feels like the car is running better and has more low end power.
