2006 Volvo S-60 Sending unit
2006 Volvo S-60 Sending unit
I have a 2006 volvo s-60. I changed the fuel sending unit about 6 months ago and it worked fine, but I had a leak. So a friend of mine tried to tighten it and cracked it. He changed it, but this time when the gas level gets to 1/2 tank, the level gets erratic. I changed the sending unit again, but the same thing is happening. Any thoughts / help would be appreciated.

ProParts are hit or miss brand. They are great when it comes to a piece of metal(steering shaft for example), but when you start adding electronics it might be problematic.
As far as I remember awd cars should have 2 floating sensors. 1 attached to the fuel pump assembly and 2nd to the sending unit on the opposite side of the tank. It is possible that new and used sensors have different amount of wear and thus the signal is "crazy" when it approaches more worn area(half a tank). If you still have your old level sensor-try to transplant it into the new sending unit. I think it is just 1 clip and 2 wires. If all corrected-great. If you dont have it-try to replace the opposite side sensor(probably around 40 with new o-ring).
After I replaced my pump on 01v70xc with bosch unit started to notice some level discrepancy at the gauge as well. However the miles to 0 still remain decently accurate. I was too lazy to open the tank and investigate further.
