Headlight condensation - quick fix

Post by volvo4fun »

I am the proud owner of a brand new (to me) V70 T5, with 71K. Got it last Friday and of course spend the weekend giving it a good inspection.

The first problem I tackled was condensation in one of the headlights. Here in Maryland vehicles need to pass inspection, before you can get tags. I am sure the condensation would be a stumbling block.
From this forum and others I gleaned that removing the headlight to separate the glass from the body was not something that could be done in a few minutes. Thought I could quickly dry it out, new gasket and be done with it.

I decide it was worth it to try something else. I removed the two big black plastic covers on the back side of the housing and left them off. Most of the condensation was gone, driving around like that for less than an hour. I will put the covers back on next time we have a could night.

Next time it rains I guess I will find out how bad a leak there is.
