95 volvo 940 turbo = rough idling, hard to start

Post by hello_im_alex »

i recently purchased a 95 volvo 940 turbo (250 000km). it ran fine for the first 2 weeks and then it started to get hard to start in the cold mornigs (25f). Also once the car is running and i have to stop for a red light or a stop sign, the engine wll start to sputter ans sometimes stall. after which it starts right away. i brought it in to the local import mechanic. he found that the coolant temp sensor need to be replaced. he did that and then the check engine light came on and he tried to get the codes but there was a failure in the ECU. so he suggested i should get that replaced aswell. I took the car home and after a few days the same problems started to occur. Is it the ECU? Has anyone ever seen this problem before? possible solutions? any help would be greatly appreciated.

disconnect the MAF sensor and see if it works better for you.
