1998 v70 Bolt that holds down vacuum tree 982757 m6 16mm
Hey everyone! I've been lurking on this forum for a little while and used some guides to do some work on my S70 T5. While it's been super helpful, I was wondering if anyone knew what the exact dimensions were to the bolt that holds down the vacuum tree on the 1998 model? I broke the head of it off while trying to install the new one and managed to get it out (thankfully), but couldn't find anything about it online. Not to mention, I don't have any tools to measure the length/width of it directly, so I'm kind of at a loss here. Thanks for the help!

Sometimes you can get the part number for a bolt from the online Volvo parts store , then get the actual bolt size from Skandix.de
Let me try….
Volvo parts online gives part 982757
Skandix .de gives us it’s a m6 16 mm long bolt!
Woo hoo
I believe the 16 mm refers to overall length?
Don’t forget to replace you 978111 oring while you have it off…

You will have to work out the thread pitch on the bolt. If you have a bolt store near you, take the remains with you and they can check the thread you need.
Even if you can't get the exact length, a 15mm will likely work, or a longer one and cut it down. If you are buying from a bolt store, get a matching nut, fit it onto the bolt before cutting it down below the point of the cut and then use it as a thread chaser.

If you count the 16 threads on the bolt above it will almost certainly tell you its 1.00mm/thread
