Post by jim montgomery »

i have just purchased an 850 turbo wagon and have the opposite problem from most people who post. i have imported an american car to canada and it has no functioning daytime running lights. i hope that i can reverse one of the tricks and get them to work.

What year?
I believe all 850's have the DRL switch installed
In the headlight switch cluster is a separate teenie little screw head.
If the lights (DRL's) are off it should be at the 10:00 position.
You need a very tiny (eyeglasses type) screwdriver,
push the screwhead in and turn to the 12:00 position and release. You should now have DRL's

Jim,

On my '94 the switch is actually on the back of the headlight switch so if you don't have the screw on the front of your switch pull the switch out of the dash, it just pulls out, and look on the back of the switch. The same thing applies, turn it to the middle postion.

I imported a 94 850 turbo wagon from the US into Canada. There is a different light switch that implements the DRL. Go to the stealership and buy it if you can't get it from fcp. It was ~$38CDN in 1996. Unplug the old one and plug in the new one. As an aside, on my 2000 BMW 540, the DRL is a software setting. Go figure.
