1996 VOLVO 850 TURBO BLOWER MOTOR/AC ETC QUESTIONS

Post by santon »

Just bought a 1996 850 turbo wagon 229,000 kilometers( 140miles).
the car literally drives like new and is a pleasure to drive. only thing wrogn with it is that the blower motor doesnt work at all, (not even on the high setting). I haev done my reserach and ordered a new motor and picking it up this afternoon, my questions are:

1) the motor i ordered doestn come with a cage is this difficult to re and re.
2) the ac when turned on the orange light comes on and stays on however it doesnt engage teh ac. is it linked to the motor so it wont even turn on if the blower motor isnt workign? i have heard that i should swap the resistor as well however i was told if the motor doesnt work on any speed its definitely the motor, if it works only on the high setting than its the resistor.

i am just wondering if the a/c compressor not engaging is asnother issue on its own or related to the blower motor. i read somewhere that if the a/c had an issue the light on the button woudl flash this true?
